Brandon ... you got me with Cecil's words and action ... and you took me (a long way) back to being nearly six years old and a new family moved across the alley from us. Our new neighbors had a six year old girl, Jackie, and we became best friends. I learned very quickly what Jackie meant when she said "I feel funny." Jackie was a juvenile diabetic and it meant she needed a hit of sugar ... a soft drink. If she didn't get that sugar hit when she alerts those she knows will help her, she would go berserk. I remember, when we were eight and were at a community pool ... she started in that she "felt funny." Her mom wasn't right there so I went to tell her what Jackie said. Things broke real fast, at that moment. Jackie jumped out of the pool and started running around like a crazy person. As her mom jumped up and ran to corral Jackie, she sent me off to fetch a Coke for her. I remember watch Jackie calm down as soon as that drink took effect. This was in the very early 60s and this was the language a young child was taught to address her disease. Her parents, in turn, taught me how to help my best friend and be aware of some hazards that might put her in the hospital (like why she couldn't go barefoot because she might step on something that might not be a real big deal to me ... but it would be for her). I can't help but wonder if Cecil was a juvenile diabetic ... but most of your classmates didn't know. Maybe the teacher didn't either.
I think you might have solved a 40 year mystery. This is absolutely a possibility. Thank you for sharing this. Reminds me of that show back in the day. Unsolved Mysteries.
I love this. It is so balanced and, to me, a discernment you all made. Life is a journey and if we could/would slow down, balance, and we can hear the holy Spirit. I think I got this message after each of my brain surgeries. Actually heard God, and was visited by the Blessed Virgin Mary after the 2nd surgery. I'll health was a huge blessing for me.
